Arnold Bennett Society give Christmas readings

Step inside our inviting  large bottle oven, filled with sparkle and 200 years of Dudson ceramics. There are wonderful creations made on this site as early as 1809 and some more modern  collections made at the former Tunstall factory, which closed in 2019.

The bottle oven and the cafe will be open from 11am – 3pm plus there will be a few other things to enjoy.

During the day families can take their children on The Clinkers Story Quest around the courtyard, and take part in a little treasure hunt inside the museum.

At 11.30am – 12.30pm why not sit down and take the opportunity to connect with local heritage and the festive season, as you listen to the Arnold Bennett Society give Christmas readings from Bennetts Winter themed works.

They will discuss Vera’s First Christmas Adventure & Vera’s Second Christmas Adventure – both taken from the “Grim Smile of the Five Towns” (published  in1907) and  “Friendship and Happiness” ( first published in USA as “The Feast of St. Friend: A Christmas Book” in 1911)

Before you leave , make sure to grab a festive bite and hot drink  in the café, and make sure you’ve got yourself a raffle ticket in time for the Christmas Raffle Prize Draw in the café at 2pm.

The Dudson Shop will be open in foyer, where you can buy greeting cards, artwork by local artists and makers, and Dudson pottery . Find a special gift for ceramics collectors and anyone who simply enjoys celebrating local heritage and supporting local creatives.
